Rooney and Punyi assisted in creating and performing for the Royal Alberta Museum unveiling for Queen Elizabeth II

This historically accurate film “My Dear Sweet Maye… My Own Darling Sam” is based on the letters exchanged by Sam Steele and his wife during the Gold Rush. Maureen Rooney and Paul Punyi created the idea then researched, wrote, cast, directed and acted in Meet The Street, a one-of-a-kind theatre experience celebrating St. Albert’s 150th. 7 busses filled with audience members were transported to many streets where they got to “meet” the person the street was named after. The event was a huge success.
The city of St. Albert commissioned Rooney and Punyi to create “The Tree Show” which is now performed each year at ARBOR DAY, attended by over 500 grade one students as well as educators city staff, the Mayor of St. Albert and many volunteers.
The University of Alberta celebrated their centennial by commissioning an Interview History with Rutherford (the first Premier of AB) and Tory (the first president of the U of A) and Robinson (one of the first graduates). Paul Punyi, Glen Nelson, Maureen Rooney.
Rooney and Punyi performed as Major General and Jennie Greisbach for the unveiling of Canada Lands Greisbach statue with Edmonton Mayor Bill Smith.
Alberta Library’s Centennial celebration of the Library Act put through the new province of Alberta. Rooney and Punyi were commissioned to research write and perform an “Interview History; Irene Parlby”, one of the Alberta Famous Five.
Paul Punyi recreated the role of the first Mayor of Edmonton for the grand opening of Edmonton City Hall
Rooney and Punyi researched wrote and performed “Interview History: Fr. Albert Lacombe” for the St. Albert Parish 150th celebration.
